North Atlantic Natural Resources AB (NAN) is a new big joint venture company formed between Boliden AB and the Vancouver based South Atlantic Resources (SCQ). The company will do exploration on more than 100 000 hectares, of granted or applied exploration permits, in the three traditional mine districts, Norrbotten, Skellefte Field and Bergslagen. Management and geological experts will be recruited mainly from North America to bring new experiences and working methods says Boliden's president, Andcrs Bûlow. Late 1996 European Mining Finance Ltd (EMF) announced some diamond exploration results from Cambridge Mineral Resources' who earns 51 per cent interest in EMF's two diamond claims in northern Sweden. In the Kalix area images of aeromagnetic data has pointed out more than 60 "Bulls Eye" targets. A geochemical sampling programme has confirmed the presence of kimberlite and indicator minerals in a high percentage of the samples. Five especially prospective targets were pointed out with corresponding geophysical and geochemical anomalies along with morphologic information. Among the Swedish junior companies Lappland Gold has commenced drilling on three of their properties in the Lycksele - Storuman area. A new company, Svartliden Gold, has been set up for the operations on one of them. Viking Gold (VGCN) has acquired 80% interest in Svartliden Gold. The best section from the first four drillcores and some trenching is 3.09 metres at 22.07 g/t gold. Tricorona Mineral AB continues to expand their company structure. For instance a new exploration company called, Riddarhyttan Resources AB, has been formed to handle the mineral exploration of Tricorona. Further information can be found at www.tricorona.se.
